Carter Efe slams Davido and Wizkid
Carter Efe has reignited conversation around Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats stars after calling out Wizkid for allegedly ignoring him while crediting Davido with changing his life and supporting him at a difficult point in his career.

Nigerian streamer, comedian and musician Carter Efe has once again spoken openly about his contrasting experiences with two of Afrobeats’ biggest names, Wizkid and Davido.
During a recent interview, Carter claimed that despite creating Machala, his 2022 breakout song inspired by Wizkid, the singer never personally acknowledged him. Carter described the experience as disappointing, saying he felt ignored despite the public support he had shown Wizkid over the years.
His comments about Davido, however, could not have been more different. Carter credited the singer with supporting him during a difficult period and said Davido’s involvement in his career had an immediate impact. He described the Afrobeats star as “God-sent” and said he intends to continue publicly appreciating him.
The relationship became especially visible after Davido appeared on Carter Efe’s livestream in late 2025, an appearance Carter has since credited with increasing his visibility and opening new opportunities for him.
Carter’s comments have inevitably placed him inside one of Nigerian pop culture’s longest-running debates: Wizkid versus Davido. But for Carter, the comparison appears less about who makes better music and more about who personally showed up for him.
Despite his frustration, Carter has previously maintained that he still admires Wizkid’s music and creative style. His issue, he says, is with the lack of acknowledgement he received from an artist he had publicly celebrated for years.
